Check whether food fits your food profile

BiteScan is a web-based food fit checking app. You take a photo of a product package and BiteScan helps assess whether the product fits your selected food profile.

Take a photo of the ingredients and nutrition information on the product. BiteScan reads the package information, compares it with your profile, and gives a result: suitable, caution, or not suitable.

BiteScan is for someone who wants to understand more quickly before buying or eating food whether a product fits their food profile.

BiteScan can be useful for example for:

• gluten intolerance or celiac disease;
• lactose intolerance;
• food allergies or sensitivities;
• people avoiding certain ingredients;
• people tracking calories or nutrition information;
• parents checking products bought for the family;
• travel, when the package is in another language;
• anyone who wants to understand package information more easily.

Important: BiteScan helps you understand package information, but does not replace a doctor, nutrition advisor, or official manufacturer package information.

“Suitable” means BiteScan did not detect a conflict with your selected food profile based on the package information. It does not automatically mean the product is healthy or suitable for everyone.

“Caution” means the product may have a risk for your profile or the package has a warning, such as a “may contain” statement. In that case, check the information carefully before consuming.

“Not suitable” means an ingredient or information was detected that conflicts with your selected food profile.

Yes. BiteScan distinguishes direct ingredients from package warnings. For example, “contains wheat” and “may contain wheat” do not mean the same thing — one points to a direct ingredient, the other to possible cross-contamination risk.

No. BiteScan can also analyze products from other countries if the package text is readable in the photo. The app is also intended for use while traveling.

Yes. BiteScan can be used in a browser or added to your phone home screen as an app. On Android, open app.bitescan.eu in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, choose “Add to Home screen”, and then “Install app”. On iPhone, open app.bitescan.eu in Safari, tap the Share button, and choose “Add to Home Screen”.

BiteScan is currently not in the Play Store or App Store. It can be used as a web app and added to your phone home screen as an app.

BiteScan depends on package photo quality and how clearly the ingredients are visible. For the best result, take a sharp, clear photo of the full ingredients and nutrition information area.

No. BiteScan is a tool for understanding package information, but it does not replace a doctor, nutrition advisor, dietitian, or official manufacturer information.

Yes. The app has history where you can view previously scanned products and their results. The app also has memory, which helps remember suitable, avoid, and favorite products.

BiteScan payments are processed by Montonio. Bank payments are available in Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. For international payments, you can also use card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Payments are completed in Montonio’s secure payment environment.

An active plan is required to use BiteScan. A plan gives access to food scanning and fit checking features.
